New York City – The Time After

Written by Linda Levante on 23 May 2021

New York City’s road out of the Corona fiasco, will be a rocky one. The wounds that were inflicted will not heal quickly, and the scars will be visible in perpetuity. Covid-19 and the economic crisis that followed, have plunged New York City – not to mention the entire country – into recession, put millions out of work and crippled public services.

Many institutes, including the Manhattan Institute and other think tanks are working to develop plans for the city’s future. The consensus is that the Big Apple will rise again, but they also know that it will never be the same. Life has cracked, and how long it will take to overcome the trauma, no one knows.

New York’s visionaries want to resurrect the „Big Apple“. Their visions are to become reality. But the problems are so immense that it could take decades before the „Big Apple“ appears again in its old, or perhaps in a new, splendor. The construction gaps from 9/11 could be closed, but the human tragedy remains.
